Iraci or What’s Underneath My Skin

In the performance work Iraci or What's Underneath My Skin, Katiana Rangel produces their own blood in a controlled manner and spreads it over their skin. Their naked body slowly turns red.

In this performance/ritual, the artist wants to literally bring to the surface skin, phenotype and ancestrality, and visually ask what we understand by race and roots.

It is a practical reflection of what lies underneath in each of us, and the stereotypes we require in order to understand and accept one another.
